Michael Loik, of the Loik Laboratory within the Environmental Research Division on the College of California, Santa Cruz explains why the selection of pink: “That’s due to the dye that was chosen to permit the purple wavelengths of daylight to have the ability to move by. Colours that aren’t absorbed by the dye are mirrored or transmitted. On this case, the dye absorbs inexperienced and a few of the blue. The blue that’s not absorbed, in addition to the purple wavelengths of daylight, are transmitted or mirrored (purple + some blue = magenta).”
